Education is a way of imparting knowledge, learning. It helps the students as a guiding force in identifying their career goal and leading a civilized life .Legal education helps the law students to learn the principles, practices and theory of law. In a democratic society it is necessary and also duty of everyone to know the law.

Vidyodaya Law college took its roots from the aspirations of eminent personalities like K.V.Subramanya Swamy , Prof. H.S Sheshadri and others to impart legal education to the students of Tumkur district. The intention of these great persons to provide legal education to rural, semi-rural and urban students of Tumkur district became reality on 26 th August 1958 with the opening of Vidyodaya Law College. Vidyodaya Law College is educating the students of Tumkur district as well as the neighbouring districts irrespective of their socio, economic conditions. Our college has been instilling to the students of significance and relevance of law, legal education and development in the modern emerging society.

Excellence in legal education is the primary motto of Vidyodaya Law College. The college has been training the students for practical legal skills by supervision, and rigorous training. All these have enabled many of our college Alumni to occupy the higher positions in the Judiciary. Legal profession is service oriented profession and keeping this as a benchmark we have been imparting education to our students in enabling them the face the challenges of changing and evolving modern world.
