ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO 3 YEAR LL. B., PROGRAMME:
- The candidate seeking admission to 3 Year LL.B., Programme should have passed any Degree of a recognized University.
- Minimum percentage of marks in qualifying examination shall not be below 45% of total marks in case of General Category applicants, 42% of total marks in case of OBC and 40% of total marks in case of SC & ST applicants.
Duration of the Programme: 3 Year LL.B., Programme:
- B., 3 Year Degree Programme shall be of Three Years duration spread over Six Semesters.
- Each Academic year shall be divided into Two Semesters.
- Each Semester shall consist of 18 weeks.
- The Courses of concerned Semester is listed.
- Every student of LL.B. 3 Year Programme should undergo 4 weeks of internship (Training) at the end of every year and totally 12 weeks of internship during the entire 3-year programme.
PROGRAMME OF STUDY: -
The candidate who is admitted to either the 3-year LL.B. or 5-year B.A., LL.B., programme shall pursue the programme of study as prescribed by the KARNATAKA LAW UNIVERSITY from time to time.
ATTENDANCE: -
- Every student shall attend not less than Seventy-Five (75%) percent of the classes in each subject in each Semester.
- Conduct and progress should be satisfactory during the Semester period.
- Students who fail to satisfy the above requirements shall not be eligible to take the Semester Examination.
PROMOTION: -
- No student shall be promoted to the next year of the programme unless he/she has passed in a minimum of one Course in each semester or 2 Courses in each Academic year of B.A. LL. B, 5 Year Programme.
- The above rule is not applicable in the case of LLB, Programme (carryover system is adopted)
- Students are required to successfully complete the entire programme within Ten Years from the date of admission in case of B.A. L.L.B., 5 Year Programme.
- Students of LL.B., 3-year programme are required to successfully complete the entire course within Six Years from the date of admission in case of LL.B., 3 Year Programme.
AWARD OF THE DEGREE: -
- A Student shall be eligible for the award of the B.A., LL. B, 5-year degree after he/she has successfully completed all the prescribed courses in all the Semesters and has secured a minimum of 40% in the aggregate provided his/her character and conduct are found to be satisfactory during the B.A., LL.B., 5 Year programme.
- A Student shall be eligible for the award of the LL.B., 3 Year Degree after he/she has successfully completed all the prescribed courses in all semesters and has secured a minimum of 40% in the aggregate provided his or her character and conduct are found to be satisfactory during the LL.B., 3 Year Programme.
AWARD OF CLASSES AND RANKS (FOR 3 Year LL, B)
- The award of classes shall be as under.
- 70% and more-First Class with Distinction.
- 60% and above but less than 70%-First Class.
- 50% and above but less than 60%-Second Class
- 40% and above but less than 50%-Pass Class.
- The first 10 Ranks shall be declared by the KSLU in both the English and Kannada medium at the end of all Semesters of examinations as per the Karnataka State Law University Regulations.
PATTERN OF EXAMINATIONS
There shall be a Semester system of Examinations once on every six months, generally in the month of January and June of every year. The examination pattern is consisting with 20 marks for Internal Assessment and 80 marks for theoretical examinations. The Internal Assessment Examination includes 10 marks for Test, 5 Marks for Assignment and 5 marks for Seminar at the college level and for remaining 80 marks theoretical examination to be conducted by the KSLU.
